Sunnyvale has twenty-four neighborhoods which include communities such as Birdland, Cherry Chase, Cherryhill, Cherrytree, Downtown Sunnyvale, Fair Oaks, Greentree, Lakewood, North Sunnyvale, Old Orchard, Plumtree, Ponderosa Park, Royal Ann Estates, and The Woodlands.
Sunnyvale prides itself on its long standing dedication to fostering a safe environment for its residents. It has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation for cities with a population over 100,000 and was recognized in 1996 by Money Magazine as the 5th safest city in America. The safeness of Sunnyvale has continued uninterrupted since then, and was recently ranked again as the 5th safest city, this time in City Crime Rankings.
